About Ayr United

Ayr United are one of Scottish football's most beloved clubs, founded in 1910 through the merger of Ayr FC and Ayr Parkhouse, a union that stands as the only merger of two Scottish League clubs in the country's football history. Nicknamed The Honest Men after a line in Robert Burns' poem Tam o' Shanter, Ayr have called the compact and atmospheric Somerset Park home for over a century. They have spent most of their history in the Scottish Championship and lower divisions, building a reputation as a passionate, community-driven club with deep Ayrshire roots.

Ayr United were founded in 1910 and play at Somerset Park in Ayr. They compete in the Scottish Championship and are known as The Honest Men. The club was formed through a merger that remains unique in Scottish League history.

Ayr United have worn black and white hoops for the majority of their existence, a distinctive look that took hold in 1914 and has remained their trademark ever since. The hooped shirt gives the club a timeless, old-school aesthetic that fits a club of their heritage perfectly. Over the decades, the weight and styling of the hoops have evolved, and Ayr have occasionally experimented with alternative colours in cup runs and away fixtures. Their centenary period brought some affectionate retro-influenced releases that paid tribute to more than a hundred years of football at Somerset Park.
