About Barcelona

Barcelona are one of the greatest football clubs ever to exist, a blaugrana institution from Catalonia whose combination of trophies, playing philosophy, and cultural identity sets them apart in the global game. Founded in 1899 by Swiss businessman Joan Gamper, Barca have won 27 La Liga titles, 31 Copa del Rey trophies, and 5 UEFA Champions League crowns. The Pep Guardiola era from 2008 to 2012 produced perhaps the greatest club side in history, with Lionel Messi, Xavi Hernandez, and Andres Iniesta playing a brand of football that will never be forgotten.

Founded on 29 November 1899 by Joan Gamper, Barcelona compete in La Liga, Spain's top division. Their home is the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys while the iconic Camp Nou undergoes renovation. Key honours include 27 La Liga titles, 31 Copa del Rey wins, 5 UEFA Champions League titles (1992, 2006, 2009, 2011, 2015), and 3 FIFA Club World Cups.

The blue and deep red vertical stripes of the blaugrana kit are among the most recognised shirts on the planet. The colours were chosen by Gamper at the club's founding and have remained unchanged for more than 125 years, becoming a symbol of Catalan identity as much as footballing excellence. The Nike era, which began in 1998, produced some of the most celebrated designs in the shirt's history, including the 2008-09 and 2010-11 Champions League winning kits worn by Messi and his teammates. The away and third kits have frequently been bold and experimental, but it is always the blaugrana home that defines what it means to wear a Barcelona shirt.
