About Dinamo Bucuresti
Dinamo Bucuresti are one of Romanian football's two great powers, a Bucharest club with a white-and-red identity forged in the Communist era who went on to become champions of Romania more times than almost anyone can count. With 18 Liga I titles and 13 Romanian Cup wins to their name, Dinamo have dominated the domestic game for the better part of seven decades. Their finest European hour came in 1984, when they became the first Romanian club to reach the semi-finals of the European Cup, beating the likes of Levski Sofia and Bordeaux before eventually falling to Liverpool.
Founded in 1948, Dinamo Bucuresti play at the Stadionul Dinamo in Bucharest, Romania. League: Liga I (Romania). Honours: Liga I champions 18 times; Cupa Romaniei 13 times. Nicknames: Cainii Rosii (The Red Dogs), Dinamo.
Dinamo's white shirt with bold red trim, or the all-red variant worn in many eras, is one of the most recognisable strips in Eastern European football. The kits from the 1983-84 European Cup run hold special status among Romanian fans, representing the night Dinamo stood on the threshold of a European final. The Communist-era strips of the 1960s and 1970s, with their plain and functional aesthetic, are now genuine vintage collectibles that tell the story of football behind the Iron Curtain.
