Fortuna Sittard are one of Dutch football's most colourful clubs in every sense, a Limburg institution born from the 1968 merger of Fortuna '54 and Sittardia. Their predecessor Fortuna '54 holds the distinction of being the first fully professional club in the Netherlands, having won the KNVB Cup in 1956-57 and 1963-64. The merged club has carried that pioneering spirit forward, winning the KNVB Cup in 1999-2000, and are beloved by a fiercely loyal Limburg fanbase who have followed them through decades of Eredivisie football.
