About Guadalajara
Club Deportivo Guadalajara are Mexican football's most romantic club, a Jalisco institution founded in 1906 whose red and white stripes and strict all-Mexican player policy make them unique in world football. Known universally as Chivas, a nickname that began as an insult and became a badge of pride, they have won 12 Liga MX titles and the 2018 CONCACAF Champions League. No foreigners, no compromise: just Mexican talent in those famous stripes.
Founded in 1906, Guadalajara are based in the city of Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, and compete in Liga MX. They play their home matches at Estadio Akron, which opened in 2010. Major honours include 12 Liga MX titles and the 2018 CONCACAF Champions League. The club are nicknamed Chivas and El Rebano (The Flock). Their home kit consists of red and white vertical stripes. Puma are the current kit manufacturer.
The red and white vertical stripes of Chivas are one of the most iconic shirt designs in world football, instantly recognisable to fans across the Americas and beyond. The stripes have stayed largely unchanged throughout the club's history, a symbol of continuity and tradition in an era of constant kit reinvention. Puma have been a long-standing manufacturer for Chivas and produced several celebrated versions of the stripe, including the kits worn during the 2018 CONCACAF Champions League triumph. Away kits in white or blue offer a contrast, but nothing competes with those famous red and white stripes.
