About Køge Boldklub

Koge Boldklub occupy a unique place in Danish football history as the first club from outside Copenhagen to win the Danish championship. Founded in 1895 in the town of Koge on the island of Zealand, KB Koge claimed the national title in 1954 and again in 1975, punching well above their weight in a landscape long dominated by the Copenhagen clubs. The club merged with HIK in 2009 to form HB Koge. Founded in 1895, Koge Boldklub were based in Koge, Zealand, Denmark. Their home ground was Koge Idraetspark. The club competed in the Danish top flight for much of the 20th century. Key honours include 2 Danish championship titles (1954, 1975) and 2 Danish Cup wins. They played in red and white. The club merged with HIK to become HB Koge in 2009. Koge Boldklub's red and white kits are remembered fondly by Danish football fans as the colours of a genuine underdog story. Their 1954 title-winning strip, worn when they became the first provincial club to conquer Danish football, holds a special place in the country's football history. The 1975 championship, won two decades later in the same proud colours, confirmed that Koge's 1954 triumph was no fluke. Simple, classic, and historically significant.
