About Le Harve

Le Havre AC are the oldest football club in France, founded in 1872 by English residents of the Norman port city and one of the true pioneers of the French game. In 1899 they became the first club from outside Paris to win the French championship, an achievement that cemented their place in football history. Known as les ciel et marine -- the sky and navy blues -- their distinctive colours were chosen by the English founders as a tribute to Cambridge and Oxford universities, the alma maters of the men who brought football to Le Havre.

Founded in 1872, Le Havre AC play at the Stade Oceane in Le Havre, Normandy, and have competed at the highest levels of French football across multiple eras. Their 2022-23 Ligue 2 title secured a return to Ligue 1 after 14 years in the second division.

Sky blue and navy are the timeless colours of Le Havre AC, and their shirts across more than a century of French football represent one of the game's most historic wardrobes. The early championship-winning kits of 1899 and 1900 are part of French football mythology. Their modern sky blue home shirt, worn on their return to Ligue 1 in 2023, reconnected a new generation of supporters with one of the sport's genuinely founding clubs and a history that predates professional football in France entirely.
