About Millionarios
Millionarios are one of South American football's most storied names, a Colombian giant from Bogota dressed in royal blue and white who were once home to Alfredo Di Stefano during the most famous era of Colombian football. Founded in 1946, the Ballet Azul (Blue Ballet) as they are known won multiple Colombian championships and defeated Real Madrid in a legendary 1952 Golden Wedding anniversary match. With 16 Colombian league titles, Millionarios are the second most decorated club in their country's football history and carry a legacy that reaches back to one of the game's greatest ever players. Founded in 1946 (with origins in the 1920s), Millionarios play at the Estadio El Campin (capacity around 36,000) in Bogota, Colombia. They compete in the Categoria Primera A. Key honours include 16 Colombian League titles, 3 Copa Colombia wins, and the Small Club World Cup in 1953. Nicknamed El Ballet Azul (The Blue Ballet), they wear royal blue and white. Millionarios' royal blue and white kits are among the most iconic in Colombian and South American football. The shirts worn during the golden Dorado era of the late 1940s and early 1950s, when Di Stefano and a constellation of world-class players turned the Ballet Azul into one of the finest club teams on the continent, represent the pinnacle of the club's rich history. The modern blue kits worn in the Categoria Primera A carry the weight of that extraordinary legacy and the pride of a club that once genuinely competed with the best in the world.
