About Montpellier

Montpellier HSC are the great surprise champions of French football, a club from the southern Herault region who stunned the giants of Ligue 1 to win the title in 2012 under Rene Girard. Led by the goals of Olivier Giroud and the experience of seasoned professionals, that title win remains one of modern French football's most unlikely triumphs, and the shirts from that season are among the most sought-after in Montpellier's history.

Founded in 1974 as a merger of several local clubs, and based in Montpellier, southern France, the club play at the Stade de la Mosson. Their honours include 1 Ligue 1 title (2012) and 1 Coupe de France. Nicknamed La Paillade or Les Pioneros, they wear a distinctive blue and tangerine orange colour scheme.

The blue and tangerine orange combination is Montpellier's great identifier. The 2011-12 title-winning kit, predominantly royal blue with orange trim, is the shirt most fans associate with the club's finest hour. Puma supplied the kits during much of the 2010s and produced some bold takes on the orange and blue pairing. The distinctive colour scheme has also produced some eye-catching away kits over the years, particularly during Montpellier's European campaigns in the seasons that followed their championship win.
