About Nimes
Nimes Olympique are one of France's oldest and most characterful football clubs, representing the Roman city of Nimes in the Languedoc-Roussillon region and wearing the red and black of one of French football's most distinctive identities. Founded in 1937, Les Crocos (The Crocodiles) have spent time in the French top flight at various points in their history, most recently competing in Ligue 1 from 2018 to 2021 after winning the Ligue 2 title. The crocodile on their badge, inspired by Nimes' famous ancient Roman symbol, gives the club one of the most recognisable crests in French football. Founded in 1937, Nimes Olympique play at the Stade des Costieres (capacity around 18,000) in Nimes, Gard, France. They compete in Ligue 2. Key achievements include multiple spells in the French top flight and a Ligue 2 title win in 2018 that secured their most recent Ligue 1 promotion. Nicknamed Les Crocos (The Crocodiles), they wear red and black. Nimes Olympique's red and black kits are among the most distinctive in French football, a combination that has been associated with the club through decades of top-flight and second-tier competition. The Ligue 2 title-winning shirts from 2017-18, worn during the campaign that returned Nimes to Ligue 1 after a long absence, are collector's pieces for supporters of one of France's genuinely historic clubs. The three seasons of Ligue 1 kits from 2018 to 2021 represent the most recent chapter of Nimes competing at the highest level of French football.
