About Olympique Lyonnais
Olympique Lyonnais are France's dynasty club of the modern era, the side that redefined what was possible in Ligue 1 with an extraordinary run of seven consecutive French championships between 2002 and 2008. Based in Lyon, France's second city, OL have produced some of the finest players of their generation and made multiple deep runs in the UEFA Champions League, establishing themselves as a regular fixture in the knockout stages of European football's premier competition.
Founded in 1950 and based in Lyon, France, the club play at the Groupama Stadium. Their honours include 8 Ligue 1 titles, 5 Coupe de France wins, and multiple Champions League semi-final appearances. Nicknamed OL or Les Gones (The Kids), the club are one of France's most successful sides.
The Lyon home shirt has traditionally been white with red and blue trim, a clean and classic combination that suits a club of their continental ambitions. The white home kits from the championship dynasty years of the mid-2000s, worn by Juninho Pernambucano, Karim Benzema, and Florent Malouda, are among the most fondly remembered in French football. Umbro supplied the kits for a significant portion of that golden era. The distinctive OL badge on white is one of the most recognisable sights in Ligue 1, and Adidas has more recently taken over as kit supplier for the modern era.
