About River Plate

Club Atletico River Plate are the pride of Argentine football, one half of the greatest rivalry in South American sport and home to some of the most beautiful football ever played in the Southern Hemisphere. With the Estadio Monumental as their fortress and the famous white shirt with a red diagonal sash as their banner, Los Millonarios have won the Copa Libertadores four times and are among the most decorated clubs in Argentine football history.

Founded in 1901 and based in Buenos Aires, Argentina, the club play at the Estadio Monumental Antonio Vespucio Liberti. Their honours include 37 Argentine Primera Division titles, 4 Copa Libertadores wins (1986, 1996, 2015, 2018), and 3 Intercontinental and FIFA Club World Cup titles. Nicknamed Los Millonarios (The Millionaires).

The white shirt with a thick red diagonal sash is one of football's most iconic designs and has barely changed since River Plate adopted it in the early 20th century. That single bold stripe across the chest is immediately recognisable anywhere in the world and carries the weight of a century of Argentine football history. The Adidas kits worn during the 2015 and 2018 Copa Libertadores-winning seasons are particularly prized, but every River Plate home shirt from any era is instantly identifiable and carries enormous emotional meaning for the club's vast fanbase.
