About San Jose Earthquakes
San Jose Earthquakes are one of Major League Soccer's founding clubs, a team that brings Silicon Valley energy to American football with a blue and black colour scheme and a history that includes two MLS Cup titles. The Earthquakes played a pivotal role in the early development of MLS and gave the San Francisco Bay Area a genuine top-flight football identity, producing some of the league's most memorable moments in the process.
Founded in 1996 as one of the ten charter clubs of MLS and based in San Jose, California, the club play at PayPal Park. Their honours include 2 MLS Cup titles (2001, 2003). Nicknamed the Quakes, they compete in Major League Soccer, Western Conference.
The earthquake-themed blue and black home shirt is San Jose's most iconic look. The classic kits from the championship-winning seasons of 2001 and 2003, when Landon Donovan and Dwayne De Rosario were running riot in the Western Conference, are the most cherished in the club's history. The Adidas-era kits of the early 2000s have a nostalgic charm for the first generation of MLS supporters. The blue and black combination has been maintained across various suppliers and generations of kit design, giving the Earthquakes a consistent visual identity in a league that often favours radical change.
