About Shanghai Shenhua
Shanghai Shenhua are Chinese football's most storied club, an institution with roots going back decades in the city that has become the financial capital of Asia. As one of only four clubs never relegated from the Chinese Super League since its founding in 2004, Shenhua have been a constant presence at the top of Chinese football, and high-profile signings including Nicolas Anelka and Didier Drogba in the early 2010s brought global attention to the club.
Founded professionally in 1993 (with roots going back to 1951) and based in Shanghai, China, the club play at the Hongkou Football Stadium. They compete in the Chinese Super League, China's top professional competition. Their home colours are blue and white. Nicknamed the Blues.
The blue and white home kit is Shenhua's most enduring look, a classic combination that has carried the club's identity through decades of Chinese football development. The blue home shirts worn during the era of Anelka and Drogba, when Shenhua were briefly the focus of global football attention, are among the most recognisable in Chinese football history. The blue and white combination has been produced by various manufacturers as the Chinese football market has grown, and the Shenhua badge on a blue shirt is the most recognisable symbol of football in China's largest city.
