About Shimizu S-Pulse
Shimizu S-Pulse are one of Japanese football's most colourful and beloved clubs, a founding member of the J.League in 1993 whose bright orange home kit has been a vibrant presence in the Japanese football landscape since the very beginning. Based in the coastal port city of Shimizu (now part of Shizuoka City), S-Pulse were the first club in Japan to wear orange as their home colour, and that distinctive shade has become as much a part of the J.League's identity as any colour in the competition.
Founded in 1991 and based in Shizuoka City (formerly Shimizu), Japan, the club play at IAI Stadium Nihondaira. One of the Original Ten founding members of the professional J.League, S-Pulse have competed in J1 for most of their history with the orange and blue colour scheme at the heart of their identity.
The vivid orange home shirt is S-Pulse's defining feature, a colour the club calls S-Pulse Orange that stood alone in Japanese football when the J.League was founded. No other club in Japan's top flight wore orange at the league's inception, giving S-Pulse an instant visual identity and an energy that matched the enthusiasm of a new professional game. Puma has been a long-term kit supplier, producing some of the most striking orange kits in Asian football. The blue trim that accompanies the orange speaks to Shimizu's seafront industrial heritage on the shores of Suruga Bay.
