About Spartak Moscow
Spartak Moscow are one of the great clubs of European football, a team that transcends sport to represent the working-class soul of Russia. Founded in 1922 and known as Narodnaya Komanda, The People's Team, Spartak have accumulated 17 league titles across the Soviet and Russian eras, including 10 Russian Premier League championships since 1992. They have been regulars in the UEFA Champions League, reaching the group stage in multiple campaigns throughout the 1990s and 2000s, and their matches against CSKA Moscow generate some of the fiercest derby atmospheres in world football.
Spartak Moscow were founded in 1922 and play at Otkritie Arena in Moscow. They compete in the Russian Premier League and hold 10 Russian Premier League titles, 7 Soviet Top League championships, and multiple domestic cups. Their nickname is Narodnaya Komanda, The People's Team.
The blood-red and white stripes of Spartak Moscow are one of football's most iconic colour combinations. From the golden age of Soviet football through to the Champions League era of the 1990s, the red-and-white shirt has been worn by legends including Fyodor Cherenkov and Rinat Dasaev. Their Hummel-era kits of the early 1990s, worn as Spartak lit up the inaugural Champions League group stage, are among the most prized Soviet and Russian football shirts in any collector's cabinet.
