About Tours
Tours FC were one of French football's most historically rich clubs before the club's liquidation in February 2025 brought a century of football history to a sad end. Founded in 1919 in the Loire Valley city of Tours, the club twice reached Ligue 1 (in 1980 and 1984), made back-to-back Coupe de France semi-finals in 1982 and 1983, and won the Ligue 2 title in 1984. Their blue kits represented a proud city with a deep football culture, and their story stands as a reminder of the fragility of lower-league clubs in the modern game. Founded in 1919, Tours FC were based in Tours, Indre-et-Loire, France, and competed in the Championnat National until their liquidation in February 2025. Key honours include a Ligue 2 title in 1984 and two Coupe de France semi-final appearances (1982, 1983). Tours FC no longer exists as a professional club following their financial collapse. Tours FC's blue kits were worn with pride across more than a century of football in one of France's most celebrated historic cities. The Ligue 2 championship-winning shirts from 1983-84, which secured the club's second and final promotion to the French top flight, are among the most treasured pieces for supporters. The early 1980s kits from the Coupe de France semi-final seasons, when Tours twice came within one game of the national cup final, represent the peak of the club's ambitions. Their absence from French football since 2025 leaves a void in the Loire Valley.
