About Twente
Twente are one of Dutch football's most passionate clubs, based in Enschede in the east of the Netherlands and known for one of the most devoted fanbases in the Eredivisie. Founded in 1965 from a merger of local clubs, Twente claimed their first and only Eredivisie title in the 2009-10 season under coach Steve McLaren, completing one of the most celebrated title wins in recent Dutch football history. They have also won the KNVB Cup and been regular participants in European competition, carrying the fierce pride of the Twente region onto the continental stage.
Twente were founded in 1965 and play at the Grolsch Veste in Enschede. They compete in the Eredivisie and won the Dutch league title in 2009-10. The club also won the KNVB Cup in 1977. Their colours are red and white.
Red and white are the colours of Twente, a combination worn with passion across their long Eredivisie history. The Grolsch Veste, opened in 1998, is one of the finest stadiums in Dutch football and provides the backdrop to some of the most atmospheric home matches in the country. Their 2009-10 Eredivisie title-winning shirt is the most prized in the club's kit history, and the Umbro and Nike kits from their European campaign seasons are particularly sought-after by collectors of Dutch football heritage.
