About Vancouver Whitecaps

Vancouver Whitecaps are one of Canadian football's most storied clubs, a side with roots stretching back to the NASL era and the first Canadian club to win a national professional football title when the NASL Whitecaps won the Soccer Bowl in 1979. The modern MLS incarnation has carried that heritage proudly since joining the league in 2011, wearing the blue and white of British Columbia with consistent pride. BC Place provides one of MLS's most visually spectacular indoor stadium backdrops, and Pacific Northwest football has produced some of the league's finest atmospheres. Founded in their modern MLS form in 2009, Vancouver Whitecaps play at BC Place and compete in MLS Western Conference. Key honours include the 1979 NASL Soccer Bowl (earlier Whitecaps era) and multiple Voyageurs Cup Canadian Championship wins. Known as the Caps, the club wears blue and white and represents the Pacific Northwest alongside their Seattle rivals. Blue and white are Vancouver Whitecaps' colours and they have produced some handsome kits across the MLS era. The clean blue home shirts with white trim are among MLS's more understated and elegant designs. The 2011 inaugural MLS season kit carries significance as the first shirt worn in the revived era of top-flight football for the city. More recent Adidas designs have given the classic combination a modern sophistication that suits a club with genuine continental heritage.
